Welcome to Dublin

Fast-growing suburban city with many shops and restaurants.

Dublin is a bustling suburban city with a dynamic urban downtown located within the East Bay and Tri-Valley regions of Alameda County. Named by Irish settlers who founded the community in 1850, Dublin offers a dynamic mix of old and new, with several historic properties from the mid-1800s and numerous new developments of single-family housing. Recent additions to Dublin’s neighborhoods include the luxurious gated communities of Tassajara Hills and Wallis Ranch. Census data consistently shows Dublin to be one of the fastest-growing cities in the county. Its thriving local economy includes the headquarters of a number of finance and tech companies, as well as the corporate headquarters of Ross Dress for Less.

Dublin has several shopping centers and large commercial areas along I-580 and Dublin Boulevard. Located near the intersection of I-580 and I-680 are a number of shopping plazas with lots of restaurants and stores such as Burlington, Ross Dress For Less, Safeway, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Target. Elegant Japanese sushi and tempura spot Amakara is one of many international restaurants located here. Continue east on Dublin Boulevard and turn onto Dougherty Street for delicious pastries, breakfast foods, and Mexican classics at Denica’s Real Food Kitchen.

Continue west on Dublin Boulevard for stylish shopping and dining at Hacienda Crossings. Anchored by Barnes & Noble, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, T.J. Maxx, and a multiscreen IMAX movie theater, drink and dinner options at Hacienda Crossings include the Lazy Dog gastropub. Across the street from Hacienda Crossings is the rustic white-tablecloth Italian restaurant Berevino, which serves delicious wines and meals prepared with fresh local ingredients. Just south of Dublin is the upscale Stoneridge Shopping Center in neighboring Pleasanton, which has several department stores and more than 165 total retailers and restaurants.

Dublin’s Irish heritage is celebrated each March with a two-day St. Patrick’s Day Celebration featuring hundreds of vendors and as many as 80,000 attendees. Other Dublin events include a weekly farmers’ market, the Picnic Flix summer movie series at Emerald Glen Park, and the Splatter arts festival with refreshments from local food, beer, and wine vendors. Dublin has more than 20 neighborhood parks with lots of sports fields and courts, children’s play areas, and trails. Equestrian, hiking and biking trails also wind through the gorgeous 654-acre rolling hillsides, steep canyons, and open space of Dublin Hills Regional Park.
